5. Speaks formally
In addition to speaking in a monotone or robotic voice, often, people who have Asperger’s syndrome speak in a formal manner. Their cognitive skills are usually highly advanced, which means that they may use words that are seemingly advanced or formal in their language.
This may be more noticeable in children, as they may use words that are not common for young people to use. For example, instead of saying the word “so”, a child may use the word “hence.”
Again, this could add to difficulties making or maintaining relationships, as others might view the use of this type of language as odd.
