6. Lacks empathy
Another common symptom of Asperger’s syndrome is the inability to empathize with other people. Someone with Asperger’s may not show much emotion either; they may not smile, laugh, joke around, or show that their feelings have been hurt, for instance.
This does not necessarily mean that the person does not understand other’s feelings or is being insensitive to them, but rather, it is because she has a difficult time picking up on social cues and the behaviors of other people.
For instance, a child may not react in a way that may seem proper when someone is crying.
