3. Abdominal Tenderness
There are several origins of diverticulitis that may cause abdominal tenderness and pain. For example, if the disease manifests in the lower area of the abdomen you may experience cramps, abdominal distention, or urinary issues. Pain in the abdominal area is one of the most common symptoms of diverticulitis.
The inflammation of the pockets that have developed may cause this discomfort. Most people who have diverticulitis describe the pain as being mild to moderate and it will often come and go.
It often occurs after eating, especially foods that contain nuts or seeds.
