3. Difficulty Sleeping
Almost everyone has had trouble sleeping at some point in time. In fact, this is quite a common ailment. However, if you notice that you are having a lot of trouble sleeping and you also are feeling quite fatigued all the time, even when you do get enough sleep, it may be caused by low estrogen levels. The reason for this is because estrogen is connected to serotonin. Serotonin is another chemical that is made by the brain.
Serotonin makes melatonin, which is the sleep hormone. If you have a low amount of estrogen it can cause you to also have low serotonin levels. When your serotonin levels are low your body does not produce enough melatonin. This can cause you to have difficulty sleeping. When you have trouble sleeping, your body can become fatigued. If you notice these types of symptoms you should discuss it with your doctor and have your estrogen and other hormone levels checked to see what may be the underlying cause.
