6. Stress
Stress can cause a whole range of nasty medical conditions – among them, eye styes. While we know by now that a bacterial infection is the actual cause behind an eye stye, we also know that you will be far more at risk for picking up infections if your immunity has been lowered.
What can lower your immunity? Many immune-related health conditions count here, but stress or prior illness can also cause this. Sometimes, your eye might be introduced to bacteria and might be able to fight off the infection before it takes hold – this is when your immune system is running at full capacity.
When it’s not, then you could get much sicker from things that wouldn’t normally affect your system – including eye styes.
Remember that treating the eye stye here will only be treating the symptom, and you should find the cause of what’s been causing your stress or lowered immune system by making an appointment with your doctor.
