3. Absorption
Vitamins and minerals can be either water-soluble or fat-soluble. Water-soluble vitamins are very easy for us to make the most of and any time you consume something like vitamin C, it will get transported to the parts of the body where it can do the most good.
But fat-soluble vitamins are a different story. These nutrients require a source of fat in order to be properly absorbed and without that, the body won’t be able to make use of them. Take lutein for instance.
Studies show that this highly beneficial nutrient can only be effective when taken with a fat source such as fish oil.
