5. Runny Nose
Adults and children suffering from parvovirus may develop a runny nose. During the early stages of parvovirus, the sign may present as a simple postnasal drip that transforms into a runny nose. In more advanced cases parvovirus can transform a runny nose into serious congestion that can make it difficult to breathe.
Parvovirus attacks the tissues located in the nose. When these tissues become irritated they get inflamed as the immune system works to eradicate the parvovirus virus. This natural reaction caused the nasal mucus to thin and drip out of the nose as opposed to draining down the throat.
Many other conditions cause runny noses such as allergies, the common cold, or even the flue which can make it hard to pinpoint parvovirus as the cause. Although this is a mild sign of parvovirus, it can be frustrating or even disturb one’s sleep if it has progressed to the point of congestion.
