4. Fever
An early sign of parvovirus is fever. When the body is attacked by an outside irritant such as a bacteria or virus, the immune system will kick itself into gear to fight. This normal reaction to infections and viruses increases the temperature in the body as the immune systems try to reset itself and repel invaders.
The temperature in the body is controlled by the hypothalamus. The immune system sends a trigger to the hypothalamus when parvovirus or other types of infections are present in the body. There is no cure or treatment for fevers caused by parvovirus, but they can be controlled with over the counter medication.
Aids such as Tylenol, Motrin, or Paracetamol are typically used to reduce fevers. Rest, liquids and a steady environment that is not overly hot can also help bring a person’s temperature down. Sometimes a person will only get a fever at the early stage of parvovirus.
