11. Good for the Kidneys
Your liver isn’t the only organ in your body that has the job of processing out toxic chemicals; this is also something that comes down to your kidneys. Most of the substances that filter out through your body, including toxins in food and some types of medication, will filter through your kidneys and be expelled through your urine.
When your kidneys are bombarded with toxins, your health will start to show signs almost immediately: You will feel tired and slugging, experience pain in your lower back (which is really your kidneys) and in extreme cases you will develop yellowing of the skin and eyes. This is a sign of severe kidney dysfunction and means that you should not fast at all: Consult your doctor if this is the case.
For the person with healthy, somewhat bombarded kidneys, a fast can do wonders – and combined with fluid intake, your body will feel much better after a short fast.
