5. Constipation
Diverticulitis could have the opposite effect on your bowels as well. Instead of having frequent watery bowels you may end up not being able to have a bowel movement at all.
The small holes or sacs that are created by diverticulitis may block up your system, which results in constipation. If you frequently have hard bowel movements that are hard to pass, it could be a sign that you have diverticulitis.
This bout of constipation may be followed by severe diarrhea as your body is trying to get rid of the waste in any way that it can.
