14 Natural Remedies for an Earache

When it comes to earaches, most of the time we think of children complaining of ear pain and having an ear infection. However, earaches occur in adults as well. Often times, the cause of an earache will simply be from having water or other liquid trapped in the ear. Swimming is one of the main causes of fluid becoming trapped in the ear and causing pain.

However, bacteria, wax, and foreign objects getting trapped in the ear can also cause a person to develop an earache. Ear pain can be quite awful as it can cause your balance to be off as well as simply being quite painful. If you are suffering from an earache there are several things that you can do in order to help alleviate some of the pain that you are experiencing.

Here are 14 natural remedies to try for an earache.

1. Moving the Earlobe

If you suspect that your earache is caused by fluid in your ear, the first thing you may want to try is quite simple, just wiggle the bottom of your earlobe. Tipping your head to the side and simply shaking it can actually help move the fluid down and out of the ear.

While you are shaking your head, pulling your earlobe out and shaking it can help as well. Gently pull your earlobe down and give it a jiggle while your head is tilted. If the water is not really stuck down in the ear canal, this method will often work.

Once the water has come out of the ear canal, you will likely notice a reduction in the pain that you are experiencing. Of course, if the pain in your ear is caused by bacteria or something besides water, this method is not going to work.
