5. Medication
Medication is another common cause of breast pain. This is because many medications will cause alterations to your hormone balance, which in turn can cause physical changes to the breasts and also increase sensitivity.
If you have begun a new course of medication and are now noticing breast pain, then it might be worth speaking with your doctor to see if there is an alternative treatment available. Note that you should see this symptom listed on the back of the packaging.
While any medication can potentially cause these conditions, the most common culprits include:
- Infertility medication
- Postmenopausal estrogen
- Oral contraceptives
- Anadrol
- Antidepressants
6. Menopause
The menopause-like pregnancy – is a time when a woman’s body will undergo many physical changes, dictated by alterations in hormone balance. Similarly, this can sometimes cause changes in the size, shape and sensitivity of the breasts, which can sometimes be uncomfortable.
Other signs of menopause include hot flashes (changes in temperature), insomnia, mood changes, hair growth, changes in sex drive, vaginal dryness and more. If you notice any such changes in your own body, then this might be the cause of your breast pain. It should pass with time, but if necessary, medications are available to help ease the symptoms and potentially even reverse some of them. Speak with your physician.
As noted earlier, it is also possible for the breast pain symptoms to be caused by medications however.
