A woman can bleed between periods if she is taking birth control pills. Birth control pills need to be taken at the same time each morning. If the woman isn’t on birth control pills this should concern her. It doesn’t matter if the bleeding is light or heavy. She shouldn’t be bleeding after her period. It may be scary to go to the gynecologist, but he or she will find out what is wrong with you.
Make sure that the gynecologist gives you a complete physical. The gynecologist may not give you a pap smear since you are bleeding. Blood and urine tests are the best options. The gynecologist may suggest coming in for a pap smear when you’re not bleeding.
A pap smear can tell the gynecologist what is really going on in your body. He or she will call you back into the office in a couple of days to let you know what the results are.
