7. Testicular Swelling
The swelling of the testicles is a common symptom that can be associated with a gonorrhea infection at any stage. It might be one of the first signs that you notice or one of the last ones that you think to check for – but either way, the first course of action should be an appointment with your doctor if you experience testicular swelling and you aren’t sure why.
Swelling can be due to a variety of different causes that include direct injury (which is surprisingly common for anyone in sport), but it can also be due to an underlying infection or testicular cancer.
If you experience testicular swelling together with typical gonorrhea signs or symptoms, get yourself tested ASAP. If the symptom appears on its own instead, you should still see your doctor find the cause – especially if you have a family history of cancers or other genetic health issues.
