5. As a post-surgical effect of certain surgeries
When people book in for surgery, they trust the surgeon – and they hope that things will go well. Everyone on the other end of the surgical table is generally thinking the same thing, although it’s a true fact that there can be many things that can go wrong during the scope of your average surgery.
Surgery isn’t always as effortless as it is meant to be. Sometimes it might go wrong because of sheer chance, and other times it might be because of negligence by a nurse or a surgeon. Unfortunately, in all of these cases, it could put your health at potential risk while you’re sedated and lying on the table.
One of the most common surgical problems is infection either near the operation site or elsewhere in the body as a consequence of surgery: It’s why a massive dose of antibiotics is automatically given together with surgery – but it’s not always enough to prevent the body from picking up an infection.
It can happen on the table or it could happen during surgical aftercare in hospital: The number of infections that you might potentially contract are vast, and can include appendicitis depending on what type of surgery you have recently had.
