5. Unexplained fever
People who have lupus often experience fevers, and they tend to come on out of nowhere. Typically, fevers are low-grade, and don’t exceed past 101° F. A fever is the body’s natural way of trying to rid itself of harmful invaders.
Since lupus is an autoimmune disease, the immune system believes that it is under attack, hence your temperature will rise in an effort to make your body less hospitable for the foreign intruders; there aren’t any foreign pathogens present, however, which is why fevers tend to come on often and suddenly.
