5. Quit Smoking
If you are a smoker and you are suffering from tinnitus, there is a very good chance that your symptoms are due to cigarette use. Scientific studies have found that nicotine in cigarettes can affect your ears and cause tinnitus.
There are two reasons why: 1) smoking reduces blood flow throughout the body, including the ears, and reduced blood flow can do damage to the sensitive nerve cells that play an integral part in hearing, and 2) the nicotine in cigarettes is a stimulant, so smoking can exasperate the symptoms of tinnitus, which means that if you are suffering from ringing in the ears, smoking will make the symptoms worse.
In other words, smoking cigarettes can not only cause tinnitus, but it can also make it worse. By quitting smoking, you can reduce the ringing in your years; not to mention the fact that your overall health will improve.
