3. Acesulfame potassium
This is one of the early artificial sweeteners, first introduced in 1988. No serious problems have been noted during this time, meaning that you can be sure at least that it’s not going to do anything seriously bad to your system! But that said, there also haven’t been that many studies conducted. In fact, in 1996, the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) suggested that more studies need to be conducted.
It’s also true that acesulfame is nonnutritive, meaning you won’t get any benefits from it. It’s just a calorie-free alternative.
