20 Soothing Home Remedies for Sunburn

Sunburn can be extremely painful. Prolonged exposure to the UV lights of the sun can be harmful to the skin, causing it to turn red. The skin may become extremely sensitive and possibly blister. There are other symptoms of sunburn as well. If you have been in the sun too long and have a sunburn, you are likely going to be looking for some relief.

After all, sunburn is quite painful and you want to do whatever you can to make that pain go away. There are several over the counter lotions, ointments, and creams that can be used to give you some relief. Another option is to turn to some tried and true home remedies. There are many different ways that you can relieve the pain of your sunburn. Here are 20 home remedies to try the next time you stay out in the sun for too long.

1. Minimize Exposure to the Sun

The first and most important thing that you can do if you have a sunburn is to simply stay away from what caused it in the first place. If your skin is burnt you need to try to stay out of the sun as much as possible in order to allow your skin some time to heal. It is especially important to stay inside from the hours of 10 am until 4 pm. These are the times that the UV rays are typically the strongest.

When you do go outside it is important to make sure that you put on a hat, wear light clothing that is light in color, and to wear sunglasses to help protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. When your skin has become sunburnt you need to allow it some time to heal, so make sure that you avoid the sun as much as you possibly can.
