5. Smoke
Likewise, city smoke can cause similar problems. While the smog that you might find in a big city isn’t going to contain all the same toxic elements as cigarette smoke (such as tar, or the highly addictive nicotine), it will nevertheless still cause irritation.
This can be a trigger, meaning that it causes an asthma attack in someone who suffers with the condition. At the same time though, it can also be a cause. That is to say that if you move to a big city, having lived somewhere on the coast, then this can be enough to trigger the onset of asthma when you didn’t have it previously.
In fact, living in cities can be very bad for our health for this reason – and for many others. Another common issue is that we will often be highly stressed when we are living in urban areas.
