5. Postnasal Drip
Postnasal drip is a medical symptom often accompanying sinusitis that a lot of people might be sure they’ve never heard of, but one that almost everyone who has had sinusitis or the flu will have experienced: Simply, postnasal drip is the constant “dripping” of phlegm through the ear, nose and throat channel – and it can usually be felt by the patient as it drains down the back of the throat, where it might cause obvious signs of a rash or serious irritation of the throat.
Should the mucus be swallowed into the stomach, long-term postnasal drip can easily trigger nausea and vomiting (even when no foods or fluids have been consumed to trigger the vomiting episode). With vomiting, postnasal drip could trigger dehydration – and it’s one of the symptoms that can be the most uncomfortable.
There is a list of other health conditions that might cause postnasal drip: With constant flu-like and allergy-like symptoms, sinusitis is a common possible diagnosis.
