4. Blistering
Another sign that you may have developed sun poisoning and not simply just have a bad sunburn is that the skin starts to blister. While you may have a few small blisters that show up with a bad sunburn, the blisters associated with sun poisoning are often quite large. These blisters will typically appear on the areas of the skin where the sun was most prominently hitting.
The blisters that are caused by sun poisoning can become as large as golf balls or even tennis balls in some cases. These blisters will hurt immensely and there is not a lot that can be done to alleviate the pain. If you develop extremely large blisters on your skin it is important to make sure that you stay out of the sun for the near future. You will also want to contact your doctor as this is a severe sign of sun poisoning and there may be a need for prescription pain medication to help alleviate the symptoms that you are experiencing.
