3. Direct Impact
In both the previous examples, we have seen how damage to the surrounding area can cause inflammation and swelling, thereby placing pressure on the nerves and causing irritation.
However, in other cases the impact might be much more direct. If you simply take a hit directly to the sciatic nerve, then this can cause a sudden shooting pain that is felt all through the affected region.
Again, it is relatively uncommon for this to happen, seeing as the area is around the back and we usually keep it protected. Still though, you do need to be careful to protect this area above others. If you find yourself falling, always try to save your back!
