2. Bruising

One of the simplest ways that you can end up with pain in the lower spine is through direct trauma, which might result in bruising and swelling. If you have an accident during sports or while going about your regular activities and this should result in bruising, then you might find that the area swells up and that this swelling creates additional pressure on the area.

While the lower back is generally relatively safe from impact, if we should fall onto our backs, then this can sometimes result in a trauma in that area.
