6. Stop Gallstones
The gallbladder sits below your liver and is responsible for storing bile, the biological liquid that helps you to digest your food. Gallstones form when there is too much cholesterol in the bile. Bile surrounds the cholesterol particles and forms gallstones which can be incredibly painful. 80% of gallstones form because of excess cholesterol, with the other 20% coming from a mixture of bilirubin and calcium deposits.
Gallstones lead to pain in the upper right abdomen and require immediate medical attention to break them down and return the gallbladder to normal function. You can expect symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and gas from gallstones. If left untreated, a gallstone could block the gallbladder causing a potentially dangerous inflammatory condition known as acute cholecystitis.
Consuming olive oil in your diet reduces the over-production of bile in the gallbladder, preventing gallstones from forming. The anti-microbial and anti-bacterial effects of ingesting olive oil will balance your cholesterol, reducing the return of cholesterol to the gallbladder.
