Another symptom of ALS in advanced stage changes in behavior and personality. For example, you might have been a happy-go-lucky person and suddenly find that you are easily enraged. Changes to personality and behavior are often caused by frontotemporal dementia, which can occur in the later stages of ALS. However, it can also occur as a result of other causes of dementia, but it is not common for behavioral changes to happen with memory loss that is associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
