4. Recurring sores in your mouth or on your nose
Sores that unexplainably appear in both your mouth and/or nasal passages could be a sign of mucosal melanoma. This type of melanoma appears in areas of your body that contain and produce mucus. In this case, your nasal passages, vagina, anus, oral cavity, and the lining of your sinuses.
These sores usually appear without any identifiable cause. Even more alarming, they don’t normally show any signs of healing or disappearing. If they do, they occur randomly in similar areas of the body.
These sores can start off as small bumps that can turn into infectious areas. Some people tend to mistake these sores for canker sores or bug bites. However, if not properly assessed by a doctor, it may already be a sign of mucosal melanoma. If you have recently noticed sores in sensitive areas that have no explainable causes or symptoms, consult with a doctor immediately to determine any illness.
