5. Reduced DOMS
DOMS is ‘delayed onset muscle soreness’ and is a form of muscle pain that is felt after a workout. If you’ve ever done a big pecs training session and then been barely able to move your arms the next day… well, then you’re familiar with DOMS!
DOMS is not a bad thing in itself. In fact, attempts to try and reduce inflammation via icing and drugs may in fact impede the muscle growth and adaptations that athletes are looking for.
However, it’s also true that DOMS hurts, and that it can prevent you from training well the next day. Fortunately, spending time in a sauna helps you to feed the muscles with blood and to relax them, thereby reducing the pain component.
