Delerium and confusion can be a sign that the fever has gone too high or the infection has progressed in a serious and dangerous manner. Delerium is described as a rapidly and suddenly developing severe confusion, along with an inability to focus.
Patients with delirium may ramble, rant, and have confused or illogical thoughts. Delerium often involves serious changes in attention or consciousness. Not all those suffering from delirium are agitated and belligerent.
Some are just confused and have trouble remaining cogent, clear, and lucid.
