14. Osteoporosis
When you eat almonds and they are digested, they will leave behind a bit of a residue. This residue is called ash. The ash is an alkaline substance. This helps to maintain the pH levels of the blood. The blood, when it is at the most healthy will keep an alkaline level of about 7.4. At times, when food is consumed that is too acidic, the pH levels can become off balance.
This is why it is important to make sure to consume foods that are alkaline in nature. If the blood is too acidic, calcium is taken from the bones. Calcium helps to return the blood to its balanced level of a 7.4 pH. When calcium is taken from the bones to return the pH levels to normal, it can cause the bones to become brittle and also make them more susceptible to disease.
