As we discussed, the kidneys are two bean-shaped organs that are situated on either side of the spine. If they become damaged or diseased, you may develop pain around the area where the kidneys are located; the lower back. Pain in the lower back can certainly be a symptom associated with several other conditions.
A bladder infection or a pulled muscle, for example, may cause pain around the area where the kidneys are located. However, if you notice pain in your lower back, that pain is nagging and persistent, and it is accompanied by other symptoms of kidney disease, it’s important to see a doctor.
