4. Abdominal swelling
One of the first outward signs of a gonorrhea infection can be swelling of the lower abdomen. Gonorrhea can affect the entire reproductive system, and if you were paying any attention during the diagrams they showed you in class, most of the human reproductive system is located on the inside of the body, more or less at the same site where the swelling would be located.
Gonorrhea and other sexually transmitted conditions are likely to cause inflammation throughout the genital area, and this can extend to pain and swelling in the abdominal area that has no other cause.
A lot of women might describe the initial gonorrhea symptoms as feeling similar to period cramping at first, but then realize that it’s not the moment when other symptoms appear.
At the first signs of any abnormal abdominal swelling, make an appointment with your doctor for the proper tests to be done as soon as possible.
