14 Reasons Why you have Upper Abdominal Pain

When you suffer from abdominal pain, it can be hard to focus on your daily tasks and live a normal life. There are many types of abdominal pain and the pain can range from mild to severe. The cause of the pain often determines the severity and the length of time you experience it. Some people have chronic abdominal pain and other people just experience it from time to time. 

Most people will experience some type of abdominal pain in their life. If the pain is severe or becomes chronic, it’s a good idea to seek medical attention to rule out something serious. The sooner your pain is diagnosed, the sooner you can begin treatment. A doctor can diagnose the problem and recommend treatment. There are many things that can cause pain in the abdomen. Here are a few of the most common. 

1. Gas

The most common cause of upper abdominal pain is usually gas. Gas is natural and not something to be concerned about in most cases. It may be like a dull pain combined with pressure. It can start anywhere in the abdomen and can travel to other parts of the body. Some people experience sharp pains related to gas and others only feel pressure and slight pain. People who experience gas pain may also feel full, and bloated. 

Certain foods may be more likely to cause gas in some people, but it can also be caused by stomach and digestive issues. Many people experience gas every time they eat. There are over the counter medications that can be taken to help prevent has after eating or help ease the pain associated with gas. While occasional gas is not a problem, if gas pains become severe or are occur too often, you may want to seek medical attention to rule out a serious issue.
