14 Postpartum Depression Symptoms

2. Not Happy to Be a Parent

Of course, we’re not going to try to tell you that parenthood is easy. In reality, it’s one of the hardest damned jobs in the whole world. That being said, it’s very rewarding as well. Due to that fact, most parents will agree that they wouldn’t trade it for anything. At the end of the day, they view it as a privilege rather than a burden.

However, if you aren’t happy to be a parent or even regret getting into the situation — especially after the first two weeks where your mood will likely dip — then you should start evaluating whether you might be dealing with a more severe issue such as postpartum depression. It’s important to distinguish between regret and exhaustion. The latter is normal and to be expected, but if you aren’t happy with the situation itself rather than the tiredness then that’s cause for concern.
