2. Unable to pick up social cues
Most typically developing individuals have the ability to understand a variety of social cues. Someone who has Asperger’s syndrome, however, may struggle with picking up on such cues.
For instance, someone who has Asperger’s may not understand personal space, or may not understand when someone is expressing a viewpoint or emotions that differ from their own.
This inability to pick up on social cues could lead to difficulties in making friends. A person may feel ostracized because others believe their inability to relate to others is “weird.”
