2. Fluid Retention
This is also known as edema or ascites and even though it happens, it is an uncommon cause of a bloated tummy. Often times, fluids in the abdomen will indicate serious health problems. According to Dr. Axe sometimes excess bloating results from bodily fluids that are stored in the pelvis and abdomen areas. People experiencing fluid retention also complain about temporary weight gain which can make clothes and jewelry tight and sometimes causes joint pain.
This condition often is a result of serious health conditions like liver disease, cancer, and abdominal infections. Stomach bloating resulting from fluid retention is often accompanied by other symptoms such as indigestion, nausea, abdominal pain, unintended weight loss, and weight gain and sometimes vomiting blood. If you have recurring bloated stomach accompanied by above mentioned or other symptoms, it would be wise to visit your doctor as it may be symptoms of serious health conditions.
