3. Congested feeling in the ear
Ear congestion is not in and of itself absolute proof of an ear infection, but it can be one of the signs. Congestion in the ear, however, can be caused by other things besides an ear infection.
It can arise from irritation in the upper respiratory tract or as a result of flying in an airplane. If the congestion lasts more than a few days and is getting more rather than less severe, it is important to have your ears checked.
Other possibilities may be a buildup of ear wax and foreign objects in the ear.
