2. Muffled Sounds
Since the infection is in your ear, it is reasonable to expect some interference with hearing, although this does not happen all of the time. There can be irregularities in the patient’s ability to hear from sounds seeming muffled to complete hearing loss in one or both ears.
The muffled nature of the sounds can be due to congestion in the ear as fluid builds up. As with other infections, pus is often present in ear infections and can interfere with normal hearing.
You may find it is difficult to hear specifically voices when suffering from this condition, and conversations can be difficult.
