2. Inflammatory Bowel Disease
It has been found that people who have elevated gut permeability are more likely to develop inflammatory bowel disease. Often times, the leaky gut will be localized near the colon. When this happens, a person may experience all types of bowel issues. This includes diarrhea and constipation. A person may suffer from both of these conditions at any time. In addition, a person who suffers from the leaky gut is more likely to develop Crohn’s disease.
There have been some studies that show that a person who is suffering from inflammatory bowel disease may benefit from taking a zinc supplement, which can be purchased over the counter. However, there has not been much study done on this claim and more research is needed in order to determine if this is really a good way to treat this particular symptom that may be caused by leaky gut.
